Lady Torrens and Her Family

1821

Detail of center of painting

Lady Torrens wears an orange pelissse over a simple white dress.

In this slightly cropped image of the painting, you can see the family in day dress. There is a beautiful shawl drapped over the arm of whatever it is that Lady Torrens is sitting upon. The oldest daughter to the right has a tartan scarf over her day dress with the fashionable sloped shoulders of the 1820s. Lady Torren's dress is more typical of the prior decade.
